Game makers are defending the practice of having players purchase virtual goods – like magic swords or extra fuel – from incoming EU regulation.
The use of in-game virtual currencies has come under the European Commission’s consumer protection microscope of late, thanks to recent guidelines issued by the Consumer Protection Cooperation (CPC) network.
The forthcoming Digital Fairness Act (DFA) is also set to introduce new rules on online consumer protection. (...)
