Apple simplifies fees and terms in further EU App Store changes

The incoming business terms will settle an ongoing Digital Markets Act case, says the iPhone maker 

In its latest bid to comply with the bloc’s Digital Markets Act (DMA), Apple is moving to a single set of business terms for app developers in the European Union starting on 1 October.

Briefing journalists on the changes, which developers can sign up for starting today, Apple said it is confident the revisions will settle the European Commission’s long-running case against its app store, following a period of consultation with the EU and market testing of the tweaks.

The Commission’s case against Apple, opened under the bloc’s Big Tech rulebook in March 2024, has already seen the iPhone maker hit with a €500 million penalty last year over anti-steering practices. (...)
