Panama tackling illicit trade

 Panama is increasingly becoming the hub of illicit tobacco trade, costing the country massive loss of public revenues and at the same time, raising questions over the policy response to this phenomenon.

Meanwhile Europe particularly France, is facing a rising trend of illicit tobacco trade. According to a recent study, in 2022 most EU member states experienced a decline or at least steady illegal tobacco consumption, with France bucking the trend. (...)
