From Friday (25 August), 19 designated online platforms and search engines must abide by new EU rules on the digital space laid out in the flagship Digital Services Act (DSA). Ahead of the deadline, EURACTIV contacted each platform to assess their compliance.
The DSA is the EU’s game-changing regulation introducing responsibilities for all actors in the digital sphere, and in April, a list identifying platforms and search engines with over 45 million monthly active users in the EU was created.
These 19 services – designated as either “very-large online
platforms” (VLOPs) or “very-large online search engines” (VLOSEs) – must
adhere to a stricter regime to protect users from online harms such as
hate speech or disinformation. (...)
