The economic impact of organised crime and money laundering - How does the Covid-19 crisis aggravate the problems?

Wednesday, 10 March 2021, 14:30 - 18:00

Activities of organised crime organisations like money laundering and tapping of public funds have consequences for the economy, business and society. A crisis like the COVID-19 pandemic may be an opportunity for organised crime to spread their activity, gain power and even innovate to find new ways to pursue their objectives. The vast amount of money being made available in a short time window through the EU recovery fund will pose a particular challenge in this context.

Please join us for a debate on this issue between European policy-makers, civil society representatives, academics and stakeholders, organised by the EESC's Section for Economic and Monetary Union and Economic and Social Cohesion (ECO).
