Belgium’s Fluxys benefits from Europe’s rush to secure gas supplies

 
Gas pipeline operator Fluxys Belgium reported stable half-year results on Wednesday (28 September) as strong demand to send gas from Belgium offset risks from Western sanctions imposed due to Russia’s invasion of Ukraine.

“The geopolitical situation in Ukraine has dramatically changed the dynamics on the gas markets and the direction of flows,” Fluys said in a statement, adding that “demand to send natural gas from Belgium to Germany and the Netherlands is especially high”.

“Our grid has once again confirmed its role as an energy hub for North-West Europe,” the group added, citing the Zeebrugge terminal as an important gateway for natural gas via pipelines and liquefied natural gas (LNG) via shipping. (...)
